I’m curious…

Who are your favourite characters from the show, other than Robin, Marian and Gisborne?

Who are your least favourite?

Which relationships do you enjoy most?

Does anyone like my Isabella? I’m very proud of her. She’s complex, loyal, thinks of herself as high society but is still a bad ass. Best friends with Marian – which I like – and loves Allan. I never wanted to write her as some crazy woman. I think the show did her an injustice.

I like your Isabella a lot. I never liked what the show’s writers did to her in season 3, and I hope that she won’t turn a crazy female killer in your story. I like Isabella and Allan together. I don’t like that Isabella helped Vaisey steal the Pact because Edward gave his life for this document, but I can swallow it.

Well, she has killed a few people in her time. In her intro episode back in 1.07 (I think.) She killed her husband. Then in Get Carter she ‘avenges’ Edward’s death by killing Hamleigh, so she’s not afraid to get her hands dirty. She’s no angel but she’s definitely not crazy. She’s a survivor and, as Vaisey says, she does what has to be done.

I’m curious…

About Last Night (pt.6)

The Forest, Morning.
(Marian paces up and down, looking at the barely smouldering campfire where Gisborne spent the night.)
Robin: “I’m sorry, Marian. If anyone could’ve convinced him to do the right thing, it would’ve been you.”
Marian: “I just can’t believe he left, where would he go?”
Allan: “Well not for nothing but, does anyone even know where we are?”
Marian: “Other than halfway between Portsmouth and Nottingham?”
Allan: “Exactly.”
Robin: “Well the Sheriff must have known where he was. Trouble is, by now he could be anywhere. (Djaq & Will return from scouting.) Any luck?”
Djaq: “There was a sign post a little further down from where the coach was abandoned.”
Much: “Where to?”
Will: “Kingsbridge.”
Marian: “That’s near where they’re building the new Cathedral isn’t it?”
Allan: (Realising where the Sheriff has gone:) “Oh bloody hell. Guys, the Sheriff!”
Robin: “What is it, Allan?”
Allan: “The Sheriff..he has this huge, secret private army just laying in wait.”
Marian: (Frowning:) “A secret army? How?”
Allan: “That Hamleigh fella, the one Aliena was going to be sold into marriage to?”
Marian: “What about him?”
Allan: “The Sheriff now leads Hamleigh’s army, something to do with the Black Knights or something.”
Robin: “How did he manage that?”
Allan: (Hesitantly:) “He…he sent Isabella to pose as Hamleigh’s new bride. And I suppose when he let her close enough…she killed him and gave control of the army over to the guy who was second in command.”
Will: (Finishing the thought:) “And the commander is loyal to the Sheriff?”
Allan: “Yeah.”
Marian: “When did this happen?”
Allan: “Well you know, when you were off in the woods. Same time that Carter bloke was here.”
Will: “How could she just give the Sheriff that much power with an army like that?”
Djaq: “You’re surprised at what that woman is capable of?”
Marian: (To Allan:) “There must’ve been a reason?”
Allan: “She owed the Sheriff a favour after helping Aliena escape.”
Robin: “That’s a pretty huge favour. (Allan shrugs his shoulders.) Right, we need to leave for Kingsbridge as soon as possible. We can’t let Vaisey take command of that army.”
(The gang starts clearing up the campsite, picking up their weapons and head towards the horses.)
Much: “Robin, what about the coach, should we take it?”
Robin: (Thinking a moment, then smiling:) “Yeah, we’ll take it, at least as far as Kingsbridge, it’ll help save the horses. Good thinking, Much.”

(Robin turns to look at Marian who is still quietly disappointed by Gisborne’s disappearance.)
Robin: (Gently:) “Come on, Marian. We have to go find the Sheriff and make sure he can’t use his army. Forget about Gisborne, he’s not-”
Gisborne: (Hidden:) “Coming back?”
(Robin and Marian look towards the sound of the voice and see Gisborne climbing the ridge back into camp.)
Marian: (Relieved:) “Guy, where have you been? I thought you’d-”
Gisborne: “There’s a stream a little further down the ravine. I took the opportunity to freshen up a bit, Milady. (He bows, smiling at Marian who returns it with one of her own. Looking to Robin:) No, Hood you’re not getting rid of me that easily. Two people with a common goal… (Glances at Marian.) can accomplish many things. Two people with a common enemy… can accomplish even more. (Gisborne extends his hand. Marian looks warily between the two men as Robin considers Gisborne closely.) I’m going to help you stop the Sheriff.” (Robin takes Gisborne’s arm and grips it.)
Robin: (Calmly:) "All while trying to win Marian from me?”
Gisborne: (After a moment’s pause:) “I won’t deny it. Marian deserves only the best.”
Robin: (Smirks, confident:) “Like you said, Gisborne. Finally something we agree on.”
Will: (Popping his head out of the coach:) “Excuse me, gents. (Both men release the handshake and look towards the gang:) But there are more than just the two of you and we’re ready to roll.”
Allan: “Yeah and we need coach drivers!”
(The gang laugh and close the coach doors.)
Marian: (Sighs good naturedly:) “Come on then, boys. (Hooking an arm of each man with her own:) Break’s over.”
(She walks them towards the horses as Robin smiles. Gisborne, with furrowed brow, allows himself to be led towards a new sense of purpose and hope.)

Nottingham Castle. The Great Hall.
(Isabella is in the centre of the room, recounting her story of capturing the mercenaries to the nobles and Prince John, who is sitting on his throne opposite the balcony with the Tiernan and Finn on either side. She looks around her, then approaches a nearby guard.)
Isabella: “Then I took the sword in my hand and tugged it from its sheath..”
(The onlookers gasp as Isabella pulls out the guard’s sword. Prince John looks alarmed, totally engrossed in the tale. Isabella slowly sweeps the sword around, then approaches Prince John. Four guards step forward with their spears, then retreat when they see there is no danger.)
Prince John: “Ooh!”
Isabella: “And I put the sword to the soft part of his throat.”
(Puts the sword at Prince John’s throat.)
Prince John: “And?”
(Isabella steps back to the middle of the room.)
Isabella: “Dozens of mercenaries appeared from nowhere. And I shouted, “Long live King John!”
(Isabella drops the sword and throws back her head and arms.)
Prince John: “Oh, you adorable girl!”
(Tiernan and Finn smile and exchange glances, going along with Isabella’s story. For not only do they have their conscripts but due to a deal with Isabella, the Irishmen also have the treasure.)
Prince John: “So, I trust you are happy with your new army, gentleman?”
Finn: “Oh yes, Sire. Very happy indeed.”
Prince John: “Good, and my money?”
Finn: “Now we did agree to pay you once we were on the coast, but seeing as your guards did aid us with the conscripts..”
Tiernan: “We felt as a sign of our appreciation, we would pay you now.” (He clicks his fingers and two soldiers bring in a chest full of gold.)
Prince John: “Wonderful!”
(Isabella and Meg share as smile as they know that the Irish are paying the Prince with money found in his own country. And that the price they’re paying is just a drop in the bucket compared to the overall treasure.)
Prince John: “Well then. (Motioning with his hand towards the door:) Don’t let me keep you.”
Finn: “Aye, we have a long journey ahead of us.”
Tiernan: (Bowing to the Prince:) “Pleasure doing business with you, Sire. (Walking past Isabella and Meg:) Ladies.”
(Meg and Isabella both smile and bow their heads in silent thank you as the Irishmen leave the hall.)
Prince John: (To the room at large:) “Well well, Nottingham certainly is in the most capable hands. (Lifting his goblet:) A toast! To the new Sheriff, and her Deputy!”
Crowd: “To the Sheriff and her Deputy!”
Isabella: (Smiles, acknowledging the crowd, to Meg:) “I guess that makes it official.”
Meg: (Smiling brightly:) “I won’t let you down, Sheriff.” (Waves to the crowd.)

Meanwhile in Kingsbridge.
(Henry places a decanter on the table and returns to stand by the side of Bishop Waleran who is seated by the fireplace.)
Waleran: “So, you have come to claim your army?
Sheriff: "Oh no, no. The time has not come for that yet. No, you see I was betrayed by my Lieutenant and I simply cannot let that go unanswered.”
Waleran: “Dear Vaisey, you know you are welcome in my home for as long as you wish.”
Sheriff: “Thank you, your grace. I will be needing your help to extract my revenge.”
Waleran: “Anything you need, my son.”
Sheriff: (Smiling sinisterly:) “Good. Firstly I will need your man here to go to Nottingham with two messages. One for the Prince and one for the new Sheriff.”
Waleran: “Why of course, tell Henry what you need of him and he will follow it to the letter.”
Sheriff: “Excellent. Now, this is the part where you come in, Bishop…”
On The Road to Kingsbridge.
(The gang are singing and laughing in the back of the coach as Robin, Marian & Gisborne ride up front with the horses pulling the coach along.)
Sheriff: (Overdub:) "I want Gisborne to get everything he’s ever desired…and you’re going to make sure that happens.”
Bishop: (Overdub:) “But why on earth would you want such a thing for the man who betrayed you?”
Sheriff: “Because Pride comes before a fall (The camera pans from Robin, to Marian and finally to Gisborne.) and you’re going to help me make sure this fall kills him.” (The Sheriff and Waleran raise their goblets.)
Waleran: “May God’s justice be done.”

Matters of the Heart (pt.5)

The Middle of the Woods, Somewhere, Outlaws Camp.
(The outlaws sit around the fire eating, drinking and generally the mood is high. Each person occasionally looks over at Robin and Gisborne who, both still unconscious, have been given their own campfire.)
Allan: (Through a mouthful of food:) “It’s about time too! (Chewing and pointing at Will:) He’s had a thing for you since..since.”
Will: (Finishing Allan’s thought, looking lovingly at Djaq:) “For a long time.” (Djaq smiles at Will.)
Allan: “Yeah, well I’m glad something good came out of me being exiled.”
Djaq: “How do you mean?”
Allan: “Well I’m not being funny but, with me out of the way, Will didn’t have any competition did he?”
Will: (Scoffs:) “Oh is that so?”
(Djaq laughs at Allan’s brazenness.)
Much: “I resent that remark! I mean..she did kiss me once.”
Will: (Turning to look at Much:) “When?”
Much: (Edging back a bit at Will’s look:) “Er, well w-when we were quarantined in Pitt street.”
Djaq: (Rolling her eyes:) “I knew you wouldn’t let that go.”
Will: “Why should he? (Leaning in and kissing Djaq:) Your kisses are unforgettable.”
(The rest of the gang moan and jeer at the pair good naturedly.)
Allan: “So it was all down to this Kalulla dib-dab thing then?”
Djaq: “Kalila & Dimna, yes.”
Allan: “Sorry I missed it.”
Will: “Go on then, Allan. Who do you love?”
(Allan smirks at Will for being put on the spot. The gang and Marian playfully nudge him along.)
Allan: (Wiping his hands and taking a drink:) “Yeah, well alright it’s all you lot isn’t it? I couldn’t let anything happen to you if there was something I could do about it.”
Marian: “You did take some convincing though.”
Allan: (At everyone’s looks:) “Yeah but..(Joking:)..it was a long way back to Nottingham wasn’t it? (Little John jeers and throws his chicken bone at Allan. Will and Much do the same.) Alright, alright! Look the point is, I’m sorry, truly, for everything.” (The gang smiles and murmur their acceptance.)
Marian: (Prodding:) “And Isabella?”
Allan: “What, do I love her? (Looking at Djaq who visibly stiffened at the name.) Yeah, I do, I can’t help it. She’s gorgeous, funny, strong, passionate, loyal-”
Little John: “Loyal to you maybe.”
Will: “She stole the Pact, Allan.”
Allan: “I know but-”
Marian: (Stepping in:) “She didn’t have a choice. (Everyone looks to her:) She was protecting Allan from the Sheriff. Vaisey would’ve kept pressuring Allan to give up the camp’s location and (Looking thoughtfully at Allan:) I believe Allan would have died before endangering you all.”
(Allan raises his cup in silent thanks to Marian.)

image

Djaq: “So it would appear that protecting the people they love from the Sheriff.. (Looking pointedly at Marian:) runs in the Gisborne family.”
(Marian nods but says nothing, glancing over at the other campfire.)
Djaq: “I checked both men over for injuries, nothing too serious. I also cleaned and bandaged Gisborne’s leg wound.”
Marian: (Looking back at Djaq, sincerely:) “Thank you, Djaq. You are truly remarkable.” (Djaq smiles as Will squeezes her hand.)
Allan: “Come on then Maz, who do you love?”
Marian: (Smiling ruefully at the question:) “That seems to be the question of the day.”
Djaq: (A little impatiently:) “Well?”
Marian: “I..”
Will: (Noticing movement from the other fire:) “They’re waking up.”
(Marian stands and looks over at Robin and Gisborne who are both groggily regaining consciousness.)
Allan: (Looking into the flames:) “I guess we’re gonna find out soon enough.”
(Marian looks to everyone gathered around the fire then, taking a deep breath, she walks toward the two men.)

Sherwood Forest. Near Dead Man’s Crossing.
(The Irish warriors, castle guards and Prince John’s personal security are rounding up the last of the mercenaries to be Finn & Tiernan’s new conscripts.)
Ellingham: “You can’t do this to us! You can’t do this to us! (As he’s being bundled into the back of a wagon, pitifully:) Ow! You’re hurting my arm! We are blood thirsty mercenaries, you can’t just-”
Guard: “Sounds like you’re just what the Irish are looking for. (Slams the wagon door shut. To the wagon driver:) Let’s move out!”
Nearby..
(Isabella runs as fast as she can through the forest then ducks behind a thick tree, breathing heavily. She hears a twig snap close behind her. She quiets her breathing, pulls up her skirt and takes a knife from a small belt tied around her thigh. She slowly slides around the tree, then suddenly stabs out with the knife. Tiernan catches her arm and faces her with a cheeky look.)
Tiernan: “Isabella, I presume?”
Isabella: “Who are you?”
(Tiernan presses the inside of her wrist to make her drop the knife. He watches it as it falls from her hand to the ground.)
Tiernan: “The future Prince of Ireland, thanks to you finding us our new conscripts.”
Isabella: (Confused:) “I…how?”
Tiernan: (Leaning in:) “Your deputy sent us. You should consider giving her a raise. (Isabella realises that somehow Meg was behind her rescue. Tiernan sighs and glances back over his shoulder.) I’m so glad I won’t have to train any farmers or peasants how to fight.”
Isabella: “But how can you be so sure they’ll fight for your cause?”
Tiernan: “Oh, we Irish have our ways. Come now (Offering his elbow:) Let’s get you back to the castle and tell your Prince the good news.”
(Isabella, still wary of the roguish Irishman, nods mutely and takes his arm. The pair of them walk back towards the horses.)

Around the Campfire.
(Gisborne and Robin straighten themselves up, glaring at one another as Marian approaches.)
Gisborne: “Here it comes, Hood brace yourself. Marian’s made her decision and it’s not you.”
Marian: “Guy, please.”
Robin: “Think what you want, Gisborne. (Seething:) You were just the wrong man at the right place at the right time.” (Gisborne sneers.)
Marian: (Quietly:) “Is that what you think of me? (Robin looks to her:) That I would just jump into bed with anyone? That what, I’m just some mindless damsel in distress who uncrosses her legs for-”
Robin: (Interrupting:) “That’s not what I meant at all. (Marian waits for him to continue.) I just…” (Robin looks away, unwilling or unable to finish his thoughts.)
Gisborne: (Smugly:) “Right man. Right place-”
Marian: “Oh stop it, Guy. (Gisborne smiles as Marian moves around the fire in front of Robin.) Robin, it happened. There’s nothing to be done about it and I wouldn’t change a thing even if I could.”
Gisborne: “There you are-”
Marian: “Guy, be quiet! (Gisborne falls silent, looking into the flames. Softly, to Robin:) For all I knew you were dead or dying at the hands of hundreds of the Sheriff’s mercenaries.”
Robin: (Coldly:) “If that’s your excuse then-”
Marian: “It’s not an excuse! I didn’t do it to hurt you.”
Robin: “Then what is it? You want to rub it in my face that you two are playing house in the castle, laughing behind my back?”
Marian: “Oh will you stop feeling sorry for yourself! I had just escaped execution (Gesturing to Gisborne:) Guy had just given up everything for me. We needed to be close to each other, needed to feel-”
Gisborne: (Pained:) “Anything. (Robin and Marian look to him:) Since I came to Nottingham, since I lost my family, all I’ve ever wanted was to restore my family name, to become somebody who mattered in this world. By working for the Sheriff I grew more powerful, more positioned. But I knew with every life I took that I was losing another piece of my eternal soul.”
Robin: “You enjoyed every moment of it, you showed no remorse for any of the villagers you tormented or killed!”
Gisborne: “Only after I had fully chosen my path. I learned to lock away any compassion or mercy I had in me for it meant weakness and I couldn’t afford to lose what I’d worked so hard for.”
Robin: “That’s the price you pay. (Gisborne glares at Robin:) When I was fighting in the Holy Land..there was so much killing..blood…death. You learn to numb yourself to the horror of it in order to do what has to be done.”
Gisborne: (Under his breath:) “Yes.”
Robin: “But while I was fighting for a cause, I was fighting for my King, who were you fighting for Gisborne? I wasn’t killing people for power and position-”
Gisborne: “That’s because you already had it! All of your life you’ve been lord of the manor and in the Holy Land it was no different! Just spoiled rich boys fighting for their King’s approval.”

image

Marian: “Stop it, both of you! (Sighing:) Don’t you see how you’re similar? Both of you are scarred by your past and desperate to atone for your sins.”
(Everyone is quiet for a moment.)
Gisborne: “But I wasn’t. (Looking to Marian:) Hood’s right I did enjoy my job. After I embraced what I was and who I had to be? Well I determined that as long as I was going to hell, I might as well earn it. But then I met you and you saw the man that I could be, you saw the goodness that still lived inside of me.”
Marian: (With a small smile:) “It was cunningly hidden.”
Gisborne: “Somewhere along the line I reconciled in my head that if I could only make you mine, all my sins-”
Robin: (Speaking the words with Gisborne:) “Would be washed away.”
(The men exchange looks. Both sensing that perhaps, when it comes to their feelings for Marian, they are indeed very similar.)
Robin: “When I returned from the Holy Land and I saw what was being done to Nottingham and its people…I thought I’d left the fighting behind me, but I couldn’t let the injustices continue. Not when..” (Robin stops.)
Marian: (Gently prompting:) “When what, Robin?”
Robin: “When I knew that I was partly responsible. When the King led us into a war thousands of miles away we left England vulnerable. Easy pickings to the likes of Prince John, Vaisey and all who would look to profit from corruption. (Looking to Marian:) And when I saw you as the Nightwatchman…the guilt I felt from knowing that you’d been alone, fighting for justice… (Fighting back a tear:) I was so proud of you. That you’d been doing whatever you could for those that needed it while I..(Regretfully:) I should never have left you.”
Marian: (Thinking a moment, taking it all in:) "You both give me far too much credit for being the men you are today. I’m no one’s prize to be won and I’m nobody’s salvation, trust me. But I admire each of you. (Catching Gisborne’s eye:) Guy..I’m so proud of you for daring to believe you can change. And Robin…(Sighs and smiles.) I love Robin Hood. (Gisborne fights to take a breath as his dreams shatter. Marian realises what she couldn’t admit to herself before. Gisborne stares at her as she chuckles slightly, smiles and looks into his eyes. Marian gazes aside at the gang.) I love Robin Hood!”
Gang: (Raising their cups:) “We are Robin Hood!”
Marian: (Turning back to Robin, asking earnestly, hopefully:) “We still have a plan, don’t we? (Robin looks at her, understands what she’s asking and, relieved, nods. Marian returns the smile as Gisborne frowns, reading between the lines and stares into the fire.) Which is why we cannot think of ourselves or our desires. All of us, together need to fight for our futures. But we need to be a team.”
Robin: (Looking to Gisborne:) “What say you, Gisborne. Will you join us?”
(Gisborne says nothing, looking up from the fire to glance at Robin before settling his gaze on Marian. She looks to him hopeful that he will put his pride aside and join with them.)
Gisborne: (Casting both of them an unreadable look, sourly:) “It’s late, I need to get some sleep before heading out in the morning.”
Marian: “Guy..”
Gisborne: (Turning away to lay on his back, an arm draped over his eyes:) “I said goodnight.”
(Marian and Robin look to each other, Robin motions with his head and they both get up to move back towards the gang’s campfire, leaving Gisborne alone to consider his answer.)

There’s Something About Marian (pt.4)

Somewhere In The Woods…The Fight Continues.
(Gisborne runs down and swipes a punch, but Robin ducks and successfully returns with a left hook, sending Gisborne reeling. Gisborne attempts another punch, but Robin ducks again, then connects with his right fist. Gisborne comes back at him swinging. Robin backs away from him and Gisborne advances, then swings overhand and Robin grabs his arm and pulls him into a tree. Robin resets his feet and is ready when Gisborne turns and tries another punch. Meanwhile, as this is going on, the gang watch from above.)
Little John: (Frowning as he watches the melee below:) “How much longer do you think they can go on like this?”
Djaq: “John, this is Gisborne and Robin. They’re just getting started.”
Allan: (Stood beside Will, winces as a particularly nasty strike connects with Robin’s midsection.) “Nice one, Gis.”
Will: “Oi! Who’s side are you on exactly?”
Allan: “Oh come on, this is great stuff!”
Will: (Shaking his head:) “You’re sick in the head, you know that.”
Allan: (Smirking:) “Maybe. Look, this is a good thing, it’ll get it out of their systems a bit. And we’ll stop it before anyone really gets hurt.”
Will: (Glances at Allan, then shouts down:) “Come on, Robin. Hit him!”
(Robin grabs his arm again with his left hand and swings a punch with his right into Gisborne’s stomach, then immediately follows with an uppercut to his jaw and a punch with his left fist. Gisborne goes down and rolls down the hill a bit. Robin follows, but stumbles as he stops and Gisborne backslaps him as he gets up, then punches him in the face, knees him in the stomach and throws him into the trunk of a large tree. Gisborne pulls Robin upright by his shirt and punches him in the stomach, then throws him downhill. Robin rolls to the bottom of the hollow and Gisborne follows, picks him up, punches him in the gut, then the face.)
Much: (Stood with Marian.) “You see this? You see what you’ve done?”
Marian: “Oh will you shut up, Much!”
(Marian looks on concerned for both men.)

Nottingham Castle. The Great Hall.
(Tiernan has asked for an audience with the Prince, Meg has accompanied him.)
Prince John: “You wish to what?”
Tiernan: “I need to borrow as many guards as you can spare, Sire. To help your Sheriff round up my new troops.”
Prince John: “Is that so? And where is Isabella? I haven’t seen her all day.”
Meg: (Stepping forward:) “If I may, Sire.”
Prince John: “Who are you?”
Meg: (Curtsying:) “I am Meg, Sire, the Sheriff’s new…deputy.”
Prince John: (Raising his eyebrows:) “Really? (Looking to Tiernan:) My my, we are becoming quite progressive in Nottingham aren’t we?”
(The men share a laugh.)
Meg: (Composedly:) “My Lord, the Sheriff is on the front lines as we speak, acquiring men for the cause.”
Prince John: “Hm, and yet she still needs men to help her complete the job? Very well, take as many guards as you need, but be quick about it. I don’t like the thought of being unprotected.”
Tiernan: “Thank you, Sire. (He heads for the door.) Oh, (Turning back and pointing at Meg.) may I suggest Meg keeps you company? After all she is the deputy.” (Tiernan winks at Meg, then leaves.)
Prince John: (Rising from his throne:) “Do you know, (Moving closer to Meg.) That’s not a bad idea. (Looking her up and down:) You undoubtedly look like you know how to handle yourself.” (Meg blushes and lowers her eyes.)

image

Back in the Woods.
(With the fight continuing below them, the gang’s attention is on Marian who has just finished telling them what happened back at the Inn.)
Djaq: “Gisborne turned against the Sheriff to save you?”
(Marian nods, fidgeting with her cloak.)
Much: “So you two have been plotting together, not only against the Sheriff but Robin too!”
Marian: (Defensively:) “There wasn’t any plot, Much.”
Much: “A likely story.”
Little John: (Chidingly:) “Much.”
Much: “Oh why else would he turn against the Sheriff? (Pointing at Marian:) She’s been bedding Gisborne for months behind my master’s back! I knew you were a bit too keen to return to the castle.” (Marian rolls her eyes.)
Djaq: “Much, that’s enough!”
(Everyone is quiet for a few moments.)
Allan: “Nah, I don’t think so. I mean yeah, Giz and Marian have been making eyes at each other for ages but, if anything had happened before now id’ve known.”
Djaq: “And why are you so special?”
Allan: “You know exactly what makes me special, darlin’. (He winks and Djaq laughs. Will frowns and returns his attention to the fight.) Well Marian would’ve told Isabella wouldn’t she? And of course, she’d’ve told me.” (Smiles to himself.)
Djaq: “Don’t you dare mention that snake’s name around me. She brought the Sheriff to our camp and turned you against us.”
Allan: “Ah well, that wasn’t all her doing..”
Marian: (Talking impatiently over Allan:) “Nothing ever happened between Guy and I before last night. Last night was…it was…I was scared and alone! I thought for sure I was going to die, I thought Robin and all of you were already dead at the hands of the Sheriff’s men.”
Allan: (Reclining, putting his hands behind his head:) “Ye of little faith..”
Marian: “And then suddenly a miracle happened and Guy saved me, and I’d been given a second chance! The joy I felt from escaping death….(Closes her eyes, composing herself.) In that moment I needed to be close to him. (Opens them again and glares at Much:) And I will not apologise for being vulnerable.”
Djaq: “To share your weakness is to make yourself vulnerable; to make yourself vulnerable is to show your strength.” *
(Everyone is quiet again as they remember their own vulnerabilities that were expressed during Kalila and Dimna until Will chivalrously adds:)
Will: “And let’s not forget that none of this would’ve happened if Much hadn’t got us trapped in that barn.”
(Everyone turns to glance at Much.)
Much: (Mouth wide, then resignedly, mutters:) “I said I was sorry.”

Meanwhile, down in the ravine..
(Robin reaches back and his right fist lands solidly on Gisborne’s jaw. Gisborne stands back up with a smile and Robin answers with his left fist. He swings again, but Gisborne catches his arm and pushes him backwards into a tree. Robin pushes Gisborne’s arms down, shoves his shoulders back and connects with a left hook. Gisborne falls to his knees.)
Robin: "Give it up, Gisborne. Marian and I are to be married.”
Gisborne: (Frowning a moment:) “Really? Have you set a date? No, let me guess…when the King returns?”
Robin: “This is different, I wasn’t threatening to have her killed if she declined.”
Gisborne: (Smirking:) “I’ve learned from my mistakes, Hood. Marian has changed me.”
Robin: “You’re lying to yourself, Gisborne. Scum like you never change, you’ll always put your ambition before others.”
Gisborne: “With her by my side…a man can change his stars.”
Robin: (Roars:) “She’s to be my wife!”
Gisborne: (Gets to his feet, picking up a large stick, smirking:) “Funny how she never mentioned that during our time together. And trust me, she wasn’t shy about voicing what she wanted or how she wanted it. (Robin lunges at him. Gisborne thrusts the stick into Robin’s stomach, then swings it at him, but Robin ducks and the stick hits the tree.) In fact last night she was screaming my name, not yours Locksley.” (Still doubled over, Robin throws himself at Gisborne and they roll down the hill together. Robin gets to his feet first, straddles Gisborne and punches him with his left fist.)
Watching from above..
(Marian watches Gisborne pick up the large stick and point it at Robin, panicked she turns to Little John.)
Marian: (Imploringly:) "John, this is enough, hand to hand combat is one thing but we can’t let them fight with weapons. (Little John sighs.) Please John.”
(With a growl, Little John runs down the hill towards the two combatants. Marian and the gang following quickly after him. Gisborne looks up at the wild man coming towards him at speed. Gisborne gets to his feet just in time to be greeted with a strike to the head from Little John’s fighting staff. Gisborne falls to the floor once more, unconscious.)
Robin: (Angry:) “John! I told you no one was to interfere!”
(Little John looks back towards Marian, who nods. John turns back and after another sigh, wallops Robin as well, knocking him out cold.)
Much: “No!”
Little John: (Standing over both men:) “Fight’s over.”
Allan: (Raising his eyebrows, then casually turning to the group:) “This is as good a place as any to make camp I suppose?”

Sherwood Forest. Near Dead Man’s Crossing.
(Ellingham takes a ring off a skeletal hand and puts it on his own finger, where several others have already found a new home. Isabella watches him, a bit horrified at taking things from a dead man. Ellingham pokes his fingers through the eye sockets of the skull and holds it up.)
Ellingham: (to the skull:) “Thanks, my friend. I shall enjoy spending your ill-gotten gains.”
Isabella: (Eyes wide.) “You ought to be careful. He might come back to haunt you.” (Ellingham grabs her head with both hands, tossing the skull back at its corpse.)
Ellingham: “You’re the one who’s living a nightmare, precious.”
(Ellingham releases Isabella. She steps back, her eyes full of terrified hatred. Isabella steadily walks away from Ellingham.)
Ellingham: (Watching Isabella:) “Start loading! (Ellingham follows Isabella, who suddenly stops by the coach. She sees Tiernan standing behind the brush through its curtains. He puts a finger to his lips. He indicates the back of his hand, which has a tattoo of clearly celtic design. Isabella’s eyes show she
understands.)
Isn’t this my lucky day.” (Holds out his hand to admire the rings.)
Isabella: (Turns around.) “Luck can easily change.”
(Isabella stares at Ellingham. Tiernan watches him through the curtain. Ellingham suspects something and looks at the coach, but can’t see Tiernan.)
